Contempory Surrealism

These works are all different ...Oils, watercolors, pastels and drawing.....and all spontanious! I am driven by an image or an emotion  ..................and just start making marks and putting colour washs down. Then when I stand back and look I start to see where it is taking me.  I don't draw any thing before hand I just go for it! Thats what makes this work "surreal"!

“Torn”         a love triangle ..... His eyes  were what struck me at the time and I wanted to get the expession on canvas. The other images and eyes just appeared as I worked.

"Bird of Paradise"         This work really is vivid! I used modern oil paint media, so I got thick, flowing ,almost a clear butter consistancy which was such fun to paint with. The work was also free flowing and easy with things just painting themselves. This is a pleasure to look at for me!  Always puts a smile somewhere...............!        As to what it means? Well I am still trying to figure that out!

"The Flowers that Bloom in the Spring"         This was an experiment with vivid inks and metho. Love the movement and flow as well as the way the colours mingle and interact. The 'theme' arose as the work developed and I quite like the serendipidy and lightness.

"Skin"    From a discussion with friends as to the effect others have on us. We wear friends and family almost like a "skin". But is she stretching into it?..............or pealing herself away. I wanted to paint some thing large and I only had these small canvas's so I did them as a tryptich then attached them to the backboard.

"Peek!"        This is a self portrait actually. I have very curly long blonde hair! The frame, which doesn't show here, is three dimentional covered with heavy deep black velvet.
